Sweet Potatoes

Look at those eyes!

Yummy!  Kenton has enjoyed oatmeal, applesauce, avocados, and now sweet potatoes.  Everything has been a huge success, although we learned that Kenton wants his food pureed, not mashed.  Stay tuned for more adventures in baby food making ...

P.S.  I ordered my new camera and it should be here on Wednesday.  Soon, we can have quality pictures again.  :-)

Talan went out in a bang!

Today was Talan's last swim lesson for a bit. He will be trying soccer soon and we didn't want to over do his activities. During his last lesson, Talan earned a ribbon for diving down to the bottom of the pool and grabbing three rings all by himself. He was so proud (and silly in the pictures!)

Sleepover

On Saturday, we had our first sleepover with Claire. In my opinion, it was rather successful. It was a little weird getting a girl ready for church, but super fun!

Talan made sure his extra bed was ready for our "guest."  He was quite the host!
Everyone fell right to sleep with no problems at all.  Woo hoo!

First Food

We started Kenton on baby oatmeal Friday night. He absolutely loved it, made no silly faces, and could have eaten a lot more. He's getting so big!

Here's the video of his first few bites.  Please ignore the game of tag in the background ... Life is never dull in the Zsilavec house!

My Itty Bitty Boy

I took Kenton for his six month check-up this morning. For a couple of reasons, we decided to take the boys back to our original pediatrician at Cactus Children's Clinic. So, we got up early, got some donuts (and an iced chai for me), and headed to the doctor. The appointment was rather uneventful and I will be starting Kenton on solid foods within the next couple of days. Here are Kenton's stats:

26.2 inches (43%)
14 lb 2 oz (4%)
Head 44.5 cm (72%)

Cousins

We attempted another cousin photo shoot today ... You can judge whether it was successful or not.  :-)

My baby is 6 months old!

Emily came over and took some mega cute pictures of Kenton for his half birthday today.  It's hard to believe that this little one has blessed our lives for 6 months already!  We love you, Kenton Joseph!

Kenton - 5 month pictures

Kenton turned 5 months on August 20th. Unfortunately, this is when I realized I lost my camera. I took his 5 month pictures on my phone, but they aren't the best of quality. Anyway, here they are (better late than never).

Bumpers or No Bumpers?

For safety reasons, it is recommended not to put those cute bumpers around cribs because babies can suffocate. To be honest, we had bumpers in both Talan's and Hunter's cribs. Neither of them ever slept too close to the edge and it never seemed to be an issue.

Then, there was Kenton. He moves everywhere and we made the decision to take the bumper off his crib. Although I'm not worried about him suffocating, not having the bumper has brought upon other issues. Besides his pacifier falling out in the middle of the night, there have been a few instances of body parts getting stuck. Today, I walked in on both legs stuck to the point that it left huge indentations on his legs.

So I ask, bumpers or no bumpers?

So thoughtful

Talan went to the store with Daddy today and asked if he could bring me home flowers. "This will make Mommy love us even more!".

Sadness

Unfortunately, my camera has been lost. Unless it miraculously appears, there won't be very many pictures being taken until we can save for a new one.

The good news is that Emily has spent the last 4 days taking wonderful care of my boys and snapping a few pictures at the same time. I have the best sister-in-law. Just don't tell her because I don't want it going to her head. ;-)

Here's my miracle baby at 5 1/2 months:
