Tubes

We were up bright and early for Hunter's tube procedure this morning (although bright is not a correct adjective because it definitely was not!).  We were very fortunate to have the very first time this morning, but that meant that we would have to leave the house way too early for my liking (or any of our liking really).

So, thanks to an always willing and supportive sitter, we dropped Talan off at her house at 5:30 this morning and then we were on the road.  We checked into the surgery center at 6:15, with all of us looking a muck from the rain and being so tired.  I'm sure it was a pretty picture!

After talking to many people regarding Hunter's health history and making sure he had no allergies, they took Hunter back to do the procedure around 7:10.  Within 20 minutes, we were back in the recovery room with a really groggy and unhappy boy.  He was still very sleepy and coming out of the anesthesia.  The poor kiddo just kept screaming my name and thrashing around until he actually woke up and opened his eyes.  Luckily, that didn't last too long.  Once he was fully awake, we were able to get him to drink his milk, got our last minute discharge instructions, and were out the door.  We made it home by 8 this morning.

Once home, Hunter really wanted to sit on the couch and watch Mickey.  He was eating some dry cereal, drinking his milk, and relaxing.  He would randomly scream "OW!" and pull at his ear.  Although the doctor gave him some pain medicine, they did say that we could give him some Tylenol.  So, we decided to give him a dose of Tylenol, let him finish his show, and then it would be nap time (for all of us).  Around 10:00, we were all in bed sleeping soundly.

Hunter napped for around 3 1/2 hours.  He awoke in a great mood and has not complained about being in pain since.  We will have to put ear drops in his ears two times a day for the next seven days, to treat any infections that may arise, as well as reduce pain.  He's not overly thrilled about this, but hopefully this will be that end of a long battle of antibiotics and battles for him.

Praise God for a quick procedure and a relatively easy recovery!
